Organized by the Brainerd Jaycees, the seventh annual event will raise funds for youth sports in the Brainerd lakes area.

Duckies are available for purchase at area outlets for $5 and on race day at the Laurel Street Bridge. The first 30 duckies to cross the finish line will be eligible for the $7,500 in cash and prizes.

"We are really excited to host the event again this year," said event organizer Jess in a news release, "and we couldn't do it without the help of our sponsors and the entire Brainerd lakes community."

The duckies are collected and prizes awarded at Kiwanis Park but those adopting duckies need not be present to win.

The schedule of events on Saturday, Aug. 5th is as follows:

• 9 a.m.-noon - Visit the Brainerd Fire Department to adopt a duckie. Concessions will be available at the fire department location.

• 1 p.m. - The duckies will be launched from a Crosslakes roll off on to a 700 ft slip n slide!

All prize winners will be announced immediately following the completion of the race.

The Brainerd Jaycees started Big Bill$ Lil' Rubber Duckie Race in 2011 as a means to support area youth athletics in the Brainerd lakes area. The Jaycees partnered with Lakes Area Youth Soccer Association (LAYSA) and other youth sports organizations to help sell the duckies. The Jaycees have donated over $65,000 dollars to LAYSA (Lakes Area Youth Soccer Association), Brainerd BMX Club, Brainerd Wrestling Club, Brainerd Public Schools Foundation, youth baseball teams and other youth athletic groups after the past four events.

Duckie sales locations are Taco Johns, Pine Square, College Square, and Raceway Square. Visit www.lilrubberduckie.co for more information.
